This house is located in the heart of the old village of Grand-Saconnex, in a core dating back to the 18th century. The house had a lean-to serving as a workshop and a small and dark terrace, surrounded by retaining walls.
Vertical circulation was limited to a narrow spiral staircase.
The project consists of converting the lean-to into a stairwell. The new vertical connection acts as a pivot to a ground floor extension containing a kitchen and a workshop.
The terrace is widened following the extension in order to benefit from better sunshine. Access to the terrace is opened by a wide outdoor staircase leading to the access path and the carport.
